Project: Personal Health

Increase and maintain my personal physical and mental health

Background:
I totally subscribe to the principle of "healthy body, healthy mind; healthy mind, healthy body". The trick is scheduling in the time.

Body: I enjoy hiking, biking, Ultimate Frisbee, jogging, weight training, and swimming. On trips, I've also jumped into whitewater rafting, sea kayaking, river kayaking, and skiing. I look forward to doing all of these more often.

Mind: I'm interested in taking up meditation exercises to help relax and focus my mind. I have the theory that it would be beneficial every night to take time to reflect on the activities of the day, figuring out what is worth remembering and what needs to be worked on the next day, while putting the rest aside (store, garbage collect, and page out, to complete the day); in the morning, then meditate on what should be accomplished during that day (cache in, to start the day).

Status: I would like to get back to Capoeira: a mix of strength, flexibility, agility, creativity, discipline, and dance - in total, while quite challenging, a lot of fun. First, I wish to build my strength so I can do some of those headstands and flips: I've recently joined the local Results gym. I am also geared up (thanks REI!) and going for hikes in the local mountains.

Mind: I'm interested in learning more about meditation, sans spiritual content.
