Exercise artistic creativity
Background: By framing this a 'project', it sounds so impersonal, like some sort of strategic objective. Honestly, it's just fun... alright, fine - and it's strategically useful. Creativity is obviously valuable to problem solving, though the connection isn't frequently emphasized in tech fields like computer science. I firmly believe that exercising creativity in its more traditional domains ("the arts") can provide benefits in many other aspects of life.
What "arts" interest me?
Dance: Always fun. I jumped into salsa, and then hip-hop, for a bit.
Cooking: I try to keep my cooking skills fresh, but usually only get to throwing one or two dinner parties per year.
Music: I dabbled with the hammer dulcimer for a summer, and then took up singing for a semester.
Art: it's been so long (senior year of high school) since I've done any formal art (drawing and photography), but this is what I miss the most. I would very much like to get back into drawing - it's inherently creative, with fewer constraints on the creative aspects of the art than other forms (just a blank page).
Status: To make progress in any of these areas requires commitment of time I don't seem to have enough of. I continue to dabble in each when I get the opportunity.
Get involved: If I had a partner for some of these endeavors, I'd find the time. I wouldn't mind getting back into cooking, for creating dinner party discussions. Art would be, to all intents and purposes, a new project for me - but one I would be most interested in fitting in. Interested? Contact me!
