Project: Entrepreneurship

Start my own company or help lead a pre-existing small tech company

Background: I have established a strong foundation in business, communications, leadership, and international relations through a variety of activities, including:
  • Completing an MBA-level minor in Business and a certificate in Management of Technology, successfully applying the marketing and strategy skills I acquired towards a novel search monetization scheme for the search start-up, Kosmix Corp;
  • Traveling extensively around the world, opening dialogues with senior industry and government leadership in China during my MOT China Fellowship, acquiring a keen sense of the issues involved in localizing solutions ‘on the ground’; and
  • Organizing the grassroots in a critical area of Colorado (a high priority state) for the Obama presidential campaign: recruiting and training hundreds of volunteers, while coaching staff members on skills from the use of collaborative technologies to storytelling, increasing the team’s internal and external effectiveness.
Furthermore, I have conducted cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence, I work with an amazing set of colleagues and am surrounded by a rich talent pool of 10,000 UC Berkeley grads, and Silicon Valley is a stone's throw away. I look forward to applying my experience and utilizing these resources towards building a successful business.

Status: It was great being an early and active participant in the Obama campaign, what I heard characterized (and I agree) as being the most successful start-up and brand launch of the past few years. Going forward, I continue to keep a look out for new entrepreneurial opportunities in which to potentially invest my time.
